Thanksgiving!

There's so much to thank about and Thanksgiving again reminded us of that. Family, friends, good life all are things that are the most important and I am grateful for having all of these. I am an immigrant of this country and so I am very thankful that this country and it's people embraced me. Earlier this year I just became a citizen and voted in November for the first time. I was proud to be able to participate in the election of the next President of the US and hopefully can contribute to the betterment of this country.

Report a Phone Number

I talked about reverse phone lookup yesterday but now, let me talk about reporting annoying numbers. Try to visit www.reportphonenumbers.com and you will see that you can report annoying numbers that you want other people to be aware of. You can post your comments, opinions and most importantly your experience from those numbers. There are tons already listed on that site and you might want to look up yours.

Junk Mails

Junk. I got so many junk mails in my mailbox. I haven't received a Victoria Secret mail for a while now. I wonder if the change of address I made went through the net. It didn't probably. I miss those coupons they send out periodically that offers free cotton panties. Funny? Not really. I love their panties. They're cute, durable and very comfortable to wear. Anyway, I got a holiday discount offer from NY and Company. They offering 30% discount for purchases made now through December 1st. Hmm, Thanksgiving is coming too but I don't think I have much to spend. Again, I didn't prepare for the holidays. Some people are really wise. They save money just for the holidays. Oh well...

NC web design

In this very competitive world, businesses has to keep updated with the latest marketing technology to be able to gain more customers and to reach their goals. One way is to position their businesses in the web to gain more market reach. But to be able to do that, they should use a service that will build a website for them that gets results and that's how charlotte nc web design will be able to help.

Tocino

Tonight I had homemade Tocino for dinner at a friend's house. That was really good! So different than the tocino for sale at a Filipino store. It was really moist, tender and just the right taste. Sweet and Salty. My friend can really cook. Everytime she cooks, it's always very good. Hmmm, I wonder when I will be able to cook like her. I know I don't have time but maybe in the future I can afford to stop working and just concentrate on house skills. lol! Well, for those who aren't familiar with it, click the below link and you will see a picture of peppered tocino from wbelmonte. Very interesting... I haven't tried that.

Nationwide Phone Lookup

Are you familiar with Nationwide Phone Lookup? I'd never never thought of that before until I stumbled upon it on the internet. How does it work? Well, just type in the 3 digits area code and the 7 digits phone number and it'll be searched through the database until it finds the exact match and the address of that number. It can look up any kind phone numbers. Whatever the reason is, this is the best way to look up an address of whatever phone number you have.

I'm back

Again! :) Well, as you can see, the last post here was the 1st of September and what date are we now? November 11th! For two straight months, I have not posted anything. Wow! Anyway, I wonder how everybody is doing especially my friend here in cyberspace? I don't expect for anyone to keep checking my blog and I am not obliging them to since I have not been able to myself. I hope I will catch up slowly but surely and will stay on even if it's not as strong as I had been before. Reasons for being gone? Well, you know, just the usual happenings in life like work and play.

I hope everyone is doing good. And keep blogging alive!

List of Child Molesters

One of the things to consider when buying a property is the safety of the place.
If it's your primary residence and you have a family, all the more that you need to know the threats to safety in the area. Some organizations took it as their mission to help people become aware of these threats and how to combat them. There is a site that posted a List Of Child Molesters in the immediate area where you live. Just type the zip code and you will be able to know how many there are. Thanks to these organizations and sites, we can be more informed and safe.

A little update about me...

For so many days, I have not updated this blog. I have been busy with work and my social life that I didn't have the energy to blog about anything. Tonight, I took a peek and got the desire back to at least post something here. It's amazing how things go well without even planning anything. People come and go in your life but they leave a permanent especial mark that will foever be etched in one's memory and heart. I just thank God for all of them and pray for everyone's success.

Acne Solution

Everyday I get reminded again and again of why I am annoyed with acne whenever I see myself in the mirror. Why doesn't acne go away? I have tried many solutions but there is still one or two that pops out everytime and seems to never leave my face alone. I tried a few supposedly best acne solution in the market today and those that friends recommended but they don't work at all. I think it's more than cure but also prevention. I better check Acne.com and read all about acne. There must be something that I haven't known that might make a big difference.

Restricted Call

Is it only I who received a call that said on the display that it's restricted? There was no phone humber. It only showed the time and that it's Restricted. Hmmm. If ever you received such a call, let me know please. I answered that call and I realy heard somebody putting down the phone after I said "hello". Weird! I wonder who made that call on a Sunday. I might try checking online on my phone account. Let's see.

Hello Peepz! Earning while blogging is getting better and better everyday. Have you heard about ihype.com? If not, then you are out of the loop. But not to worry. You can sign up right now and start earning like so many bloggers signed up with this cool marketplace where bloggers and advertisers meet. Yeah! At ihype.com, advertisers pay publishers like you and me to write about their products and services. It's that simple. And the good best thing about this is that once your post is approved, you immediately get paid and you can take as many opportunities as you want. There is no limit! What are you waiting for?

Fay go away...

Finally, I see sunshine from days of dark clouds and pouring rain. Tropical Storm Fay is gone! What a relief! I thought we are going to flood here. I have been couped up here in the house for two straight days. I want to go out! I missed driving and seeing other people. But I welcomed the change too. I was able to relax and chill in the house. Now I know that there is a limit. My limit would be a day and a half. Anyway, I'm looking forward to a party tomorrow night. I'm sure it's going to be fun!

I should have gotten a personal loan

Sometimes I wanted to pack my things and just suddenly fly to the Philippines. For more than three years now, I haven't seen my family since I left to come to the US. I miss them terribly. Last month, it was my oldest brother's wedding. Prior to that was my best friend's wedding. I saw the pictures that they sent me but it isn't definitely the same as being there. I really wanted to fly that time and be able to attend but unfortunately I couldn't afford it. Probably, if I applied for a Personal Loan or a Payday Loan, I would have been able to. Oh well, I should prepare next time and hopefully have the means to fly anytime. If not, I might resort to applying for personal loans.

Why I didn't make the Olympics

I am truly impressed by the discipline and hardwork of athletes. And I am proud and very happy of their victories, whatever nation they belong to. Some athletes united their people and has changed lives by giving inspiration to the youth and families all over the world. I have never been active in sports but knows how to play one or two games. How long have I played? Too long to remember. :) Anyway, watch the video. It's very entertaining...

Trace the call

I am happy to find out that there is a service available for common people like us to trace an unknown call & number to its owner. In addition, the address can even be located. Isn't that wonderful? I am a law abiding citizen and would never do pranks and harrass people but what if I become a victim? Even the annoying telemarketers are just too much to bear sometimes. What about unknown phone calls that you want to trace for some reason? Trace Number.com can help through their Reverse Phone Lookup service. For a minimal fee, you can get a full phone report and remove personal information from public data. That will definitely stop all those telemarketers and prank calls.

Grandfather Clocks

Have you ever owned a grandfather clock? Or do you want to own one? Ever since childhood, I have been fascinated by grandfather clocks. I never owned one but I remembered so vividly that there was one at our neighbor's house. They bought it from Japan. It was situated at the living room. Whenever I was in their home, I would stare at it for hours and just admire the intricateness of the design and love to listen to the clicking and chiming. There was some kind of mysteriousness, elegance and stability that it exuded which attracted me to it. If I have one, I would place it in the living room too so other people can admire it.

If you want to own one, you can visit www.1-800-4clocks.com and choose at their wide selection of different brands of granfather clocks like the Howard Miller brand. If you want to know more and get some ideas on what these clocks are, there is a blog just for this purpose. I like the article that I have read in that blog which is titled One Grandfather Clock, One Purchase. Buying one is like an investment. There are things to consider to get just the right one for your home.

The Priest's Sermon

I went to attend Mass today and I was very much moved by the Priest's sermon. He said, " We are scared of the water especially when we don't know how to swim. When somebody is out to help or rescue us, trust and listen." We know that God will always be there for us. He knows whatever fear we have on things we don't know about and on uncertainty. I have felt that and I know that deep in my heart, I am fearful of what the future will hold for me. I should never doubt. God is there to provide and to protect. He has always been there for me. He knows my every thought and feelings. I should trust and listen.

Inside Cardiac Arrest

It's scary to know that sudden cardiac arrest kills 25,000 people every year or almost 900 per day? And since it occurs without warning for different reasons, we don't know until we have ourselves checked. St Jude Medical is presenting www.insidecardiacarrest.com where we can find information and videos for sudden cardiac arrest awareness. How would you know if you are at risk? Please visit the site and know more.

Go Forth...

Right now, I feel the need to encourage myself. Sometimes, when I feel this way, I open up a book or any kind of reading material that will give me words of upliftment and joy. And this one I just found.

Go Forth and Prosper
These are the moments...
Be the victor, not the victim.
Smile! It confuses people!
Chocolate solves everything!
Listen to what your heart is saying.
You mean the world to someone, ME!
Some things are only felt with the heart.
A smile is a curve that sets things straight.
Some pursue happiness, others create it.
Imagination is the soul within...
- La Tourelle

Are you financially fit?

Have you ever taken a financial quiz? I'm not talking about anything related to school. It's about a quiz geared towards helping you find out or assess what your financial condition is currently. It's the BillsIQ test. For just a few minutes, I answered a few simple questions. I have already blogged about this since I took it before and now I took it again just to remind myself of the things that I need to watch out for for a good financial health.

As I grow older, I become very aware of how hard life can be especially when you are financially unsecure. Right now, I am doing some simple planning for my future. Of course we don't know what will happen in the future but now that there's something I can do, I am doing my best to prepare for it. There are so many things to think about like retirement, major purchases, maintenance, savings, insurances, health conditions, etc and they all involve money. Bills.com has so much information anybody can use for future planning. After the test, it even give you solutions and ways to improve or be in a better shape financially. Take the test and see for yourself.

Xenadrine RFA-X

You wonder what that is Xenadrine RFA-X? Well, that's a fat burning diet pill. Now, I can't review, compare or talk about that pill since I haven't tried it. I can't even recommend it. But if you are interested about what it is and what it can do, there is a site that did a review about this pill. PricesExposed.net contained a review of that pill and how much it'll cost. Very informative site! Not only does it reviewed this one but hundreds of other diet pills in the world. Now, if you ask me, it's really better to read and learn about diet pills before you take one. I got to say that they don't work for all people and as what the saying goes, different strokes for different folks still holds true. Not to mention the prices! It looks like the prices doesn't measure how effective the product is. It still boils down to what is compatible with one's body chemistry. Good luck!

Customize your shower curtain

These days you can customize anything including shower curtains. Sometimes, I feel that I need to have custom shower curtains in the bathrooms to have harmony in the design but didn't know that there is actually a store online that I can find this. Photoshowercurtains.com sells 100% custom shower curtains. Just provide them the photo and they will make the curtain just as exactly as what the photo shows just like below. You can even send your own photo and remind yourself of your cute smile everyday. How cool is that?!

Regency Square Mall

Yesterday, my friend and I went to Regency Square Mall. When we went there, I realized that I haven't shopped for months! I kind of miss the place which was where I used to shop before but I love the mall close to my new place now. The mall was still the same. I was disappointed when I found out that the Dillards store there is now an outlet store. So many shoppers yesterday, I tell you. There was a back to school promo in JC Penney and a lot of other sales from other stores. After a couple of hours of shopping, I was so tired, I just let my friend shop by her own while I wait for her at one of the rest areas in the mall. I found some nice deals but passed some of them. I really didn't plan on buying anything but just to pick up some free stuff at VS. But I welcome the change alright.

Birth Announcements

Hey, that's not my baby but isn't he so cute? I'm just showing you an example of a birth announcement from Doodlebugdezigns.com. Isn't it lovely? I do love children and would love to have one. Not yet though. Time will come I hope. This is just one of the lovely photo birth announcements and holiday photo cards that you can find at doodlebugdezigns.com.

Got my two days...

Yup, I got my two days rest from Friday to Saturday . Didn't blog at all! I just had to get away and give my eyes some needed rest before I battle a new week. I've been all computer everyday from early morning to late at night since I work everyday and then when I come home, I just can't stay away from it. I don't want to neglect this blog but my eyes and back have been bothering me. A friend told me that it might be my position whenever I'm in front of the computer. If I am looking up towards my computer instead of looking down, then that's the reason my it giving me back aches. Hmmm. Starting today, I will avoid looking up and instead adjust my seat high enough so I don't have to do that anymore. We'll see and I'll let you know after a few days. :)

I'm just glad I'm back to blogging!

Weneedavacation!

I need a vacation badly! How many times have I stressed it out here? I already posted a poem here about stress. A friend of mine invited me again to go with her and her family for a vacation. I declined but now I'm reconsidering after I watched the video at Weneedavacation.com. What a nice way to invite family, friends and whoever one wants to invite for a really nice vacation at Cape Cod or Florida. I checked the Cape Cod vacation rentals and they are very inviting! It would be nice if family and friends can go together and rent those vacation rentals. At Weneedavacation.com, one can plan and share by using the Power Search feature, save favorite listings for future use, send email inquiries, rate listings, and share all these to family and friends. To aid in your planning, their is also a newsletter you can subscribe to.

I got Awards!!!!

I really can feel lots of love from Jennyr. See all these awards? These all came from her. Now,I'm sharing the love too by giving this to all my blogger friends here. Let us toast for our friendship and spread the love!

Great American Seafood Cook off

This is one of my favorite simple crab recipes. My Mom used to cook it for me when I was young. Whenever we go to the market, I would always ask her for crabs and she would oblige. It wasn't only I who requested but my 5 other siblings. hehehe...Anyway, she can cook it in different ways but this recipe stands out.

Crabs in Coconut Milk

5 small or 2 large crabs
cloves garlic
1 teaspoon vinegar
1 teaspoon vegetable oil
1 small can or 2/3 cup of coconut milk
1 hot chili pepper
salt and pepper to taste

To cook it, steam the crabs first. Set it aside. When cooled, remove the shells and cut them in half. In a skillet or pan, saute garlic and ginger in oil over medium heat until light brown. Add the coconut milk, hot chilli pepper, salt and pepper to taste. Let it boil then add crab pieces and simmer for 5-7 minutes.

The only thing that I would like to change in this recipe is for the addition of onions. I would love to have onions in this recipe to make it better. Anyway, I know that this is such a simple recipe but who knows what other people have done to this to make it the best there is. I'm excited to see the Fifth Annual Great American Seafood Cook off to be held at New Orleans in Aug. 2-3. Chefs from different states all over the US will fight for the title of Kind of American Seafood. Good luck to them all! Here in America, seafood is very abundant and also managed in a sustainable manner. I am impressed on how the government implement marine system to trully protect the marine resources of this country. You can really be assured that whatever seafood you are eating are safe and of good quality.

Stressed

Yes, I am feeling stressed right now. I just finished a quarterly filing at work so I should be relieved and relaxed but I still feel stressed. I don't know, maybe this is a different emotion which I don't know how to describe. So I thought of reading something about stress. I found this poem and it actually gave me a lift!

Stress
by: Thena Smith

I'm feeling rather sassy today
Nothing can frighten me!
Nothing is going to cause me stress
I'm as strong as I can be!!
No one is going to get me down
Or cause me to whimper and whine
You have to treat me with respect
I've earned it, it is mine!
I'm going to tackle all those tasks
That seem to overwhelm
There's a new woman steering this ship-
A toughie at the helm.
I'm - oh what is that awful sound?
That ringing in my ear?
Oh, it's my alarm clock going off
Time to wake up, I fear!!!

Isn't this a cute poem? What can you say? wink*

Want to be in IT

I have heard a lot about IT professionals. Every company you go, they are there to provide information technology solutions. There's no denying how important their role is to any company especially at this modern age. Due to their demand, there are highly compensated. And it is expected that the demand for IT skilled professionals will continue to rise. I have been thinking of taking IT courses. It would be a good addition to my knowledge and skills. Accounting and IT go would really be a good pair and so if I get the chance, I probably would take a course that's more in line with my current work. I'm sure it will really boost my career in Accounting. I know a lot of acquintances back home who already have IT training. Now they are reaping the fruits of their labor.

Looking at Cisco online made me realize that there are tons of certificate courses out there. I don't have any clue as to what I will be taking but it's nice to read a lot of information in the site to give me at least a little background. The Cisco certification is available to many countries including the Philippines. The first step would be to take the CCENT, Certified Entry Network Technician then to the three levels of certification namely: Associate, Professional and Expert. The expert certification or CCIE is the IT Industry's most respected IT certification. It would be great to attain this level. If you are interested, just visit cisco.com and find out more of what they can offer you to become the best networking professional that you can be.

One Step at A Time

When I heard this song for the first time, I fell in love right away. Very good song! The beat, the style and the lyrics renews hope and enthusiasm. I'm posting the lyrics and the player for you to internalize. Just click play to listen to the song.

One Step At A Time
sung by: Jordin Sparks

Hurry up and wait
So close, but so far away
Everything that you've always dreamed of
Close enough for you to taste
But you just can't touch

You wanna show the world, but no one knows your name yet
Wonder when and where and how you're gonna make it
You know you can if you get the chance
In your face as the door keeps slamming
Now you're feeling more and more frustrated
And you're getting all kind of impatient waiting

[Chorus:]
We live and we learn to take
One step at a time
There's no need to rush
It's like learning to fly
Or falling in love
It's gonna happen and it's
Supposed to happen that we
Find the reasons why
One step at a time

You believe and you doubt
You're confused, you got it all figured out
Everything that you always wished for
Could be yours, should be yours, would be yours
If they only knew

You wanna show the world, but no one knows your name yet
Wonder when and where and how you're gonna make it
You know you can if you get the chance
In your face as the door keeps slamming
Now you're feeling more and more frustrated
And you're getting all kind of impatient waiting

[ One Step At A Time lyrics found on http://www.completealbumlyrics.com ]
[Chorus]
We live and we learn to take
One step at a time
There's no need to rush
It's like learning to fly
Or falling in love
It's gonna happen and it's
Supposed to happen that we
Find the reasons why
One step at a time

When you can't wait any longer
But there's no end in sight
When you need to find the strength
It's the faith that makes you stronger
The only way you get there
Is one step at a time

We live and we learn to take
One step at a time
There's no need to rush
It's like learning to fly
Or falling in love
It's gonna happen and it's
Supposed to happen that we
Find the reasons why
One step at a time

We live and we learn to take
One step at a time
There's no need to rush
It's like learning to fly
Or falling in love
It's gonna happen and it's
Supposed to happen that we
Find the reasons why
One step at a time

Start saving now!

Nowadays, it is imperative for us to assess our finances. The stock market is not as robust as it used to be due to the real estate market downturn. Prices are climbing faster that we haven't expected like gas prices which affected other commodities that we are already feeling the pinch. There are a lot of jobs cuts and downsizing among big or small companies. While we have a job and a steady income, it's high time for us to be good with saving and making them work for us. Evaluate whatever savings accounts that are out in the market today. They might not serve us best. There is a site that can help us find the right bank at the best rates for CDs, checking accounts and savings accounts. Right now, emoneycentral.com have listed savings accounts that can earn up to 3.66% annual percentage yield (apy). These are federally insured up to $100K so we can still get our money back in case the bank will fall. Everything to know about those accounts can be found there for a wiser decision. It's a very informative and helpful site if we are serious in saving money which I believe we should be to be able to survive with the times.

Consumerpricewatch

Talk about dieting! hehehe...I know I have been eating a lot of ice cream lately. Feels good to succumb to cravings sometime. It's hard to stop but when you want to look good, you have to. But if you just love good food but still want to maintain a good body, you might try taking diet pills. I have thought about it before but didn't continue to really buy any because I was afraid of side effects. I heard so much bad feedbacks about it. But after I heard from a friend that it actually worked for her, I had second thoughts. It might work for me, too. Right now though, I am back to my old weight right after I set foot on this country so there's no need to take them yet. But when I do, I sure will check out Consumerpricewatch.net. In this site, I can find the necessary information and relevant reviews of the "best" diet pills and other diet pills in the market today. Actual experiences and feedbacks of consumers who have tried those pills are actually there so that's good to read before I decide on any diet pill or before I talk to a doctor.

I am so craving for....

Ice Cream! Last night, I bought Eskimo bars although I already have a tub of Walgreens' Premium Rocky Road Ice cream in the fridge. Probably this is brought about by the hot weather outside although we often have showers in the late afternoons. This one has a similarity with the Selecta premium ice bar back home. Are they still sold in the market today? Or maybe this Nestle product is already available in the Philippine market? I love it! One bar is enough to satisfy my craving tonight. Next time, I might try the cone variety. I still have four bars left so maybe I'll buy this weekend. Don't ask me about the calories. I don't mind about it right now. lol! So good!

International Phone Cards

For people like me, international phone cards are very popular. Why? It's because it's cheaper making calls overseas and if you haven't known already from my posts here, I came from the Philippines but already living here in the US for years now. One of my sisters is also in Dubai, UAE so sometimes I call her, too using phone cards. Phone cards is cheaper because you get the most minutes due to lower per minute rates and no additional charges like taxes and service fees. Like many sites where you can shop for international calling cards, getmecallingcards.com is one of the largest retailers of phone cards serving different countries in the world as far as Antarctica!

My Bestfriend's Wedding...

Yes, finally, my beautiful bestfriend tied the knot with her wonderful fiancee, Lito. Her romantic wedding happened this month at Cebu. With her dad, she walked down the aisle beaming with happiness. How lovely she was! And not to mention her really pretty bridal gown. Too bad I wasn't there but she sent me lots of pictures so it felt like I was there. I'm so happy and excited for her! She finally found her soulmate after years of heartache and broken promises. She sure deserves someone better. And now she found him. Fairy tales do come true. :-)
It's still fresh from my mind those college days. She and I and another close friend were always together although I can say that Dianne and I were closer. We met during my sophomore year. We were classmates in one of our major subjects and we had the same course of study- BS Accountancy - at University of Mindanao. She was a working student, I was not. Both of us were scholars and that's what impressed me about her the most. She maintained her standing as one of the top students in our batch and actually graduated as Cum Laude. She then became a CPA a year after taking and passing the board exam just once. She's a tough lady, I can tell you. hehehe... I'm so glad and proud to have a friend like her. Now, she has gone a long way, being one of the higher bosses in her company. For years that we have been apart, we still keep in touch. Truly miss her!

Google PR updated in July 2008

Google has updated their famous "PR" or pagerank again and this time, I am one of the lucky people to get a score. I didn't expect to get a PR2 for this blog. It's more than I was hoping for and I'm so happy! If you look at my archive, the very first post I had was in February of this year. This blog is not really that old but they say that it took only 3 months for other blogs. I've heard that some blogs lost their rank from the latest update. That's bad news. I hope they will get back their scores with the next round of update. Well, I am more than satisfied with my rank now and will keep on enjoying blogging, rank or no rank. :)

Assisted living facilities in Houston

Assisted living is very common here in America. What with everybody being busy and trying to make ends meet that elderlies and older family members tend to be neglected. Assisted living facilities for age 60 and older who cannot live independently but don't need 24 hours care, abound. I've read some articles online that these are residential facilities that provide different services but typically have the following:

*Room and Board
*Housekeeping
*Social Activities
*Care and Assistance
*Food

Are you looking for one? If you are in Texas particularly in Houston, check out the guide for
Houston assisted living homes available online at gilbertguide.com. In their site, you will able to find so much information on this topic and anything related to it. It has 710 provider listings for senior care. That's so many choices all in one site! One would definitely want the best one for their loved ones so better start looking now and get an informed choice.

The need to know business law

The only thing that is permanent is change. In this ever complex world of ours, everything is changing so fast that one needs to keep up with the latest laws and information of business to stay on top of the industry the business is into. Women have no excuses anymore. We either do it ourselves or hire somebody that can do it for us. Ignorance is not permissible anymore. Everyone knows the need for legal services. The business may be small or big, of whatever kind: corporations, partnerships or proprietorship, still it has to follow the rules set for it to operate. If you are starting a business, try to learn business law to be able to avoid potential problems and to start right. I had an acquintance who lived in San Diego before who years ago were just starting their small business. I just suggested that maybe she should consult San Diego business attorney to know the applicable laws. She did and was happy with the outcome because she had more peace of mind.

Headhunters of Corporate America

I'm working in one of the top Fortune 500 businesses in the world. As like any other businesses, it had its beginnings and through the years built the name and the business to what it's now. Of course, behind its success are the people who worked hard and believed in the potential future of the company. But the decision makers had to look for these people to make it happen. It's not an easy task to find the right person for the job and so sometimes or maybe most of the time, especially with big corporations, they use a third party, the expert, to help them get the best candidate.

Headhunters, internal or a third party, are common in corporate America. An internal recruiter works in a company particularly in HR while a third party is an independent contact between the client and the candidates. Now, one of the respected names in the industry of recruiting high-caliber top management people is Dennis C Carey. He's an expert recruiter who had helped in recruiting CEO's and directors for Fortune 500 companies.

Lap Band Surgery

This is the first time that I've heard about the Lap Band Surgery. Have you? I researched online and I found out that it is an advanced surgery for the treatment of severe obesity wherein an adjustable gastric band goes around the stomach to control hunger. This is adjustable and reversible for life. For those who are helpless because nothing works and that they have severe medical conditions, then this is for them. To guide you in finding the right lap-band surgeon and to go through the process, search online and look for journeylite.com. They can help.

Calories you burn

I finally found what I am searching for! A calorie chart that shows how much calories we burn through different activities we do everyday. I stumbled upon American Council on Exercise and I'm so glad that I did because they have a chart that shows exactly what I was looking for. See below. Just click to enlarge. If you want to know more or want to read their article online, visit Acefitness.org.

Move a nation - Alzheimer's Memory Walk

Why is this walk so important? You might ask why. If you haven't had any inkling of what Alzheimers is except for the fact that it's a disease, think again. You should know that it's not curable, gets worse over time and it's fatal. It destroys brain cells thus causing dementia wherein there is loss of memory and other thinking abilities that affects normal day to day lives of people who have gotten it. Yes, there is no cure but there are treatments for the symptoms and with the right support, we can do something to keep on working for a cure or better ways of treating the disease.
In the Alzheimer's Memory Walk , Team captains and volunteers are needed of all ages in the nation's largest walk to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer care, support and research. It would only be a maximum of 2-3 miles of walk in the morning of the fall but the benefit is good and great. Join the walk and together, we move the nation.

Mama Mia! - the movie - a review

Who hasn't seen Mama Mia! yet? Well, if you are a woman like me, this movie is for you. I highly recommend it. It's really worth to watch. Why?

First of all, it's all about women and love. Whatever I like in a movie, it's all there. It's funny, it's all about us women and finding love, it's full of singing and dancing which I knew the songs so well and first of all, it is contemporary so the lessons we can learn from the movie is applicable to today's times. I don't care what negative things people say about it. It's awesome! It's not my job to critic but I went to the theaters to enjoy it and be entertained. And I did. A lot! If I was watching inside the house and not at the theater, I would have danced and sang with the characters in the movie.

By the way, I was surprised to see Merryl Streep do so well. Also, Pierce Brosnan wasn't bad at all. He was good, too. Now, this young lady Amanda Seyfried is a hit to me. She sings very well, looks really pretty and knows how to act in my opinion. Every thing on the movie is magical. And hey don't forget the wonderful settings and view! I would love to go to Greece just to see how beautiful the place is. I don't mind watching it again and I'm sure it would be with other girlfriends at the comfort of home with martini glasses in hand, dancing and singing our hearts out! lol!

My financial Mess

Since coming here in the US, I was overwhelmed by how much "power" I have over my finances. I didn't wait for too long to get a job. I know I really wanted to work and apply my knowledge and skills and it opened the doors for me. Tons of credit card offers fill my mailbox. Telemarketers always call to ask me to sign up and salesclerks at the store tempted me to sign up for discounts. I was a neophyte about credit card management. The initial purpose of getting a credit card before was just to build my credit. Now, I got tons cards and much debt! I realized I needed Debt help! There was a time that I thought about Debt consolidation but didn't attempt to go through it because if I compare myself to other people who have tons of debts, I believe I am better off. Now, I regretted signing up for a lot of credit cards. I should have had more control on my finances. I don't like this feeling knowing that I still have outstanding balances in some of my cards especially now that I have to fend for my own. There's nobody to help me except for myself. Right now, I'm still working on paying off some of my debts and have been searching online on how best to do it.

There's Bills IQ which helps people determine their financial health. I took their easy test and was relieved to confirm that my finances are quite alright. The good thing is that after the result they offered ways for Debt relief.

The Journey to Love

This morning when I woke up, I found an offline message from my Yahoo! IM. My bestfriend in the Philippines is getting married and she showed me the link to her wedding presentation. It was a You Tube video showing when they were young, their teenage years and what they are now which is two people who are in love and are committed to share their lifetime and grow old together. I was touched and almost a tear fell from my eyes. I'm so happy for her. I know from past hurts and sorrows, she deserves much better. And now she found him. He found her, too. They both look good together and happiness shows in their eyes. Yes, dreams do come true. It just doesn't fall on your lap. You have to work on it and make it possible. God gave us choices and my bestfriend chose to wait and find that man who she will share her life with. God bless them both.

Contract Furniture Company

A patio would look like barren when you don't have furnitures in it. What I would love to have in our place is a wrought iron patio furniture. That would look good in it especially if its color is gray or brown. The walls are kind of colored ash gray and the screen are chocolate brown. It's summer right now so it's the best time to buy nice patio furniture like what I found in contractfurniture.com. Just by looking at their site, I can tell that the furnitures are of quality. Actually, those are professional grade furnitures for the hospitality industry so I'm sure they are built to last longer than ordinary furnitures. If they look good at home, why not buy them?

It's Thursday!

Yes, it may not be Friday yet but I can't wait until it is Friday. Tomorrow, got tons of things to do but I am not worried. I already bought the birthday cake and ice cream for my co-worker who's celebrating her birthday tomorrow. I'm her birthday pal so I am tasked to take care of everything including decorating her cube. I already did a few hours ago after she had left. I put banners and crepe papers of pastel colors. I hope she will like it. Then after work, I might go to a Happy Hour with some of my co-workers to bid farewell to one of us who had just left our company. We will miss her.

Halloween Costume

The first time I celebrated Halloween here in the US, I was very impressed with how it is celebrated. There are trick or treating for kids, get togethers and parties for adults. Even at our workplace, we were allowed to wear Halloween costumes as long as they are "office-appropriate". The celebration here is so much different from my native country. Wearing customes and having parties is like not heard off. Probably now it has changed. I have been living here in the US for almost 4 years now.

Anyway, last year, my co-worker showed me a picture of herself and her hubby in a Halloween party. I forgot the name of her costume but it was very creative. She was like a barbie doll but with two daggers protruding from her body, of course with blood oozing from those places where the daggers are. That's when I got interested to look online and search for that perfect costume for me. Now, I stumbled upon Costume Cauldron. See this one? I like it! I'm not into the gory style of costume. This one is soooo sexy but very elegant. If I can only dare to wear it. I will need to gather up all my courage to be able to do so. What about you? Would you?

What about this one? It's called Maid Marian. Surely, I can wear this at the office. Isn't it very feminine and classic? To get the perfect look, I would need to curl my hair, apply some make up and act like a lady from the Renaissance period. I'm excited! Oh, maybe I can still find a better costume than this one. There's so many selections to choose from. I can dress up like a cool celebrity or naughty or very scary. Whatever you want to portray, looks like they have it!

Custom Tours of New York

I have always wanted to go to New York. Not to live there but just to visit a friend and her family and see and feel what it's like to be in that place. I almost had the chance last year but due to work commitments, I wasn't able to fulfill my plan. Instead I went to another place.

My dream vacation to the Big Apple is to be able to take a private tour and see everything that I should see to get the best experience. I saw online that Family in New York offers custom New York sightseeing and tours. They offer to take you and your family to a tour "off the beaten path". Sounds interesting, don't you think! I would love to see the "real" New York City!

Mexico Vacation

I love to travel! As you can see on the side bar of this blog, I listed some of the places I have been to. Each one of them brought back happy memories. Now, I have a list of places that I want to visit someday. Oh my, I just saw the place where my co-worker went to last month. She had a grand time. It was Casa Blanca Condominiums, I'm sure of it. It's one of the Rocky Point lodging and Mexico beach vacations that Sea Side Reservations have on their site. If you are planning for the ultimate Rocky Point Beach Vacation, try Sea Side Reservations online.

Alexa Ranking

When I started using Alexa ranking, I was at the 11M range. I didn't mind since I didn't know at that time that it's a good indicator of a blog's traffic. Also, this blog was just at it's infant stage. But i have noticed that, for the past weeks, the decrease became very apparent. Now from 11M, it's down to 877K. What a huge improvement! The question though is, does it help? I have not felt the benefit of the Alexa ranking. Have you?

Cost- U- Less

Need a cheaper car insurance nbi? Try Cost-U-Less. They have been in the business for 28 years. Offering a "cheaper" car insurance, their business has been growing all over the US. This is a good indicator that they are really providing good service. Cost-U-Less is mainly in Northern California but has ten locations in Southern CA such as Anaheim and Long Beach.

Hibiscus - Gumamela

This is another picture of a flower which I know most Filipinas and people in the tropics are familiar with. Yes, this is a "Gumamela" (Philippine name) or Hibiscus which is a shrub that is being used as an ornamental plant. It comes in many colors and I was glad that I was able to take a picture of a pink one. It is also considered a medicinal plant.

I researched a little bit and found out that among its uses are treatment for:

Bronchitis
coughs
fever
dysentery
urinary and bladder infections
high blood pressure
constipation
headaches
boils
swelling
abscesses
mumps

I have tried it when I was a kid for mumps, coughs and headaches. It was very effective.

Trust & Asset Management

Are you saving for retirement yet? Young or old, especially us women of today, need to start giving attention to our financial strenght and that includes retirement. It would be nice if the time comes when I can just do what I please and not have to work for a living. This is possible through a good retirement income . But then, since I'm still young, I need to plan for it and save.

Now before I start saving for my retirement, I need to know what my options are since there are tons of ways to do it. There are so many financial institutions that are more than willing to help you achieve it. That includes Northern Trust, a company dedicated to provide the best investment management and asset administration to corporations, institutions and affluent families. For corporations or family businesses, Northern Trust can help in choosing the best business checking account that will give the best value for the company. If I have the money, I would hire a financial advisor to help me make the most of my money and lead me to a better, brighter future.

Growling Stomach

When I woke up this morning, I felt right away, my stomach growling, hungry for food. What can I say to my stomach? Stop growling? lol! Last night, I didn't eat much. I ate fruits and a yogurt. I wanted to lose the 2.5 lbs I gained this week. I have been trying to maintain my weight since I think this is the best weight I ever had since coming here in the US. I guess my stomach muscles got used to having food all the time so now it's craving for more food. I will eat my breakfast in a few minutes so I can satisfy this hunger. I can't skip breakfast and I never had skipped breakfast because I'm used to it everyday and it'll give me headaches when I don't. Some people I know are used to skipping it or just drink a cup of coffee and then go to work. I can't. There's got to be something in my stomach or else I will have a bad day! Seriously. I can skip dinner but not breakfast. If I can't because I will be late, I will grab something in the cafeteria at the ground floor before I start working. Who would want a co-worker who's grouchy?

Ever heard about the TheRoomService.com? A pioneering Russian capitalist s now re-defining room service, Mr. Konanykhin, the man in the photo, a famous American enterprenuer, announced that he will turn TheRoomService.com into an international brand. What does this mean to us women or people in general? We will now have the choice of getting our food of any cuisine from wide selection of restaurants and other stuff like groceries and wines ordered online and delivered right to our hotel room. Isn't that great?!

Are you a morning person? What time do you typically get up in the morning? Walk us through your morning routine (what do you normally have for breakfast, how long does it take you to get ready to leave the house in the morning, etc.) Do you wake up cheeryPublish Post, or does it take you a little while to wake up and function normally?

* Due to work, waking up early in the morning at 5 am became a habit. I don't even use an alarm clock anymore. My body just tells me that "hey, it's time to wake up!". Anyway, I know I am a night owl. My morning routine is preparing to go to work, eat breakfast ( depending on the mood so it varies) and it takes me about an hour to prepare. I usually wake up in a good mood everyday until I realize that I need to hurry up to go to work. Lol!

If not, what would be the perfect summer romance?
I had never had a summer romance. I think it would be a perfect summer romance if it happened in the beach. hehehe...

2. What's your favorite summer themed love story or movie?
Hmm, I can't recall right now.

3. Do you find the seashore romantic or played out?
I'm not sure about this question.

4. The boardwalk by the ocean, is it fun and entertaining, a great place to meet people?
Or is it too crowded and are you sick of it?
It's too crowded so I don't go there. I just love doing a leisurely walk at the beach.

Flea Market

Yes, today my friends and I are going to meet at the flea market. I don't know what I'm going to buy though. I haven't planned anything to purchase there. I guess when I get there, I'll know by looking at the array of vegetables and fruits. I love going to that place because the prices are lesser compared to the usual stores. And they sell the produce that I can't find in the stores. Sometimes, I see or meet some friends, too. Fun! :) See you later friends!

Zenni on Fox

I have just blogged about Zenni days ago and now Zenni is on Fox! I'm talking about ZenniOptical.com. It's true that they sell stylish quality prescription glasses at only $8. Talking about huge savings! Who can beat that? My friend and her hubby bought from this company and they are satisfied with their purchase. Check out Zenni on Fox today if you want to know more.

The drive home...

....was scary! Two hours ago, I left the office hesitantly because of the very hard downpour of rain and strong winds. I already knew it will be difficult to drive but I had to. I always take I-95 going to work and back and tonight was no exception. I got wet walking from the office to the garage. While driving, I could hardly see the road and the cars in front and behind me. I had to slow down, driving at 50mph from the usual 70mph. A few times my car skidded a little bit. I saw 4 different cars that stopped at the side of the road with their emergency lights blinking. They must be having car problems. It made me afraid of my own car. What if it can't take the hard weather and will breakdown just like those other cars? There were little floods especially near the side of the road. There were also flashes of lighting and thunder along with the rain. It made me feel even more scared. What if I become the lucky car to be hit by the lighting? Anyhow, I'm so relieved now. I am home safe and without any bad incident encountered. God is good!

Student Travel

I never had the chance to travel to different countries when I was in high school or college. It would have been a different experience, no doubt about that. My mom was so overly protective. Even with a tour in nearby towns, she wouldn't approve. If I become a mom, I wouldn't do that to my child. I would let my child experience travelling to different cities and countries at an early age if I can afford it.

Anyhow, I've seen a lot of student tours. There was one time in Universal Studios. The students were speaking in a different language. How can the school organized such a big party travel? I heard a co-worker of mine talking about her daughter participating her school's student travel Europe program. One particular company that provides educational tours for students around the world is Hemisphere Travel. They provide international and US tour packages with the guaranty of meeting or beating other offers with the same tour packages. They even have a tour for Broadway! Nice!

True Love

It's poem time once again. I will leave you to go to work today with this one.

True Love
by: John Glare

True love is a sacred flame
That burns eternally,
And none can dim its special glow
Or change its destiny.
True love speaks in tender tones
And hears with gentle ear,
True love gives with open heart
And true love conquers fear.
True love makes no harsh demands
It neither rules nor binds,
And true love holds with gentle hands
The hearts that it entwines.
