Leona Lewis

Have you heard about her yet? I'm sure you have heard her song Bleeding Love. If you watched American Idol last Wednesday night, you should have caught her sang that song. Simon Cowell, the toughest AI judge is so proud of her. Who wouldn't? She's #1 in the pop charts all over the world and he discovered her. You could see he grinned from ear to ear. Lol!

I might be late in knowing her but I catch on fast. I checked her official site which is www.leonalewismusic.co.uk and found all the her songs, photos, blog and lyrics. Yes! Lyricsss! I'm really behind everything since I didn't realize that artists have official sites with lyrics. I think the reason why is because whenever you try to search for an artist, other sites like fans club, music stores and other sites pop up first on the search results rather than the official site of the singer. Anyhow, I checked her songs and listened to Pandora also and I really think her album is worth buying. She is new to the industry but who knows how far she's going to go? Right now, I'll just enjoy her music. If you are itching to listen to Bleeding Love, check her Myspace account at www.myspace.com/leonalewis. I plan to put her music here so watch out for it. Just don't have time today but hopefully tomorrow. Ciao!

A very sad news...

I heard from a close friend today that another friend is diagnosed with bone cancer. What a shock! It's a very sad news. Now that I'm growing older, it's like there are more and more occurences of sad news like this. Where are the days when everything is carefree? It's like we were immune to sickness and the future was so bright. How do we combat this? Do we still have time?

I believe we still have time. To those of us who hasn't gotten debilitating and incurable diseases/sickness and are healthy as of this time, we should work on maintaining a healthy lifestyle and avoid the bad habits that may lead to irreversible damage to our health. Now that I found about this, I became curious as to what really caused this cancer. I found out that there are so many causes and some of them like smoking tobacco are preventable. If diagnosed early, this can still be treated through surgery. I guess my friend's disease is up to that stage where it already spread so much and that a cure is not possible. Now I get to wonder what were the things that should have been done to avoid this. God only knows the purpose of this situation is. Let us all pray.

Martina McBride concert

Yep! I went to watch Martina McBride's concert in Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena last Saturday, April 19th along with two other friends, Gie and Rhebs (below). We were early. :)

We were just so lucky! I didn't even know that she will be having a concert here but I suddenly got an email from Rhebs Friday afternoon inviting me to the concert. I'm so grateful to her for sharing her luck. Thanks Rhebs!!!

Just to let you know, I appreciate varied music, from country to rock as long as it's not heavy rock or rap. Every year, I watch a concert with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra. I also watch Filipino concerts especially those that I admire back home in the Philippines. This is my first country concert and it's with Martina McBride. Just sooo lucky! Lol! Anyway, the first performer, Jack Ingram sang songs which I've heard over the radio but can only remember the one that I like the most which is Love You. His voice reminds me of Bon Jovi.

The second performer is the Little Big Town. This band is not familiar to me but they are really good. I got a little bit bored because they sang more than 5 songs that I've never heard before and I was already anxious to see Martina until they sang a song from Fleetwood Mac and an original which is Bring it On Home. Got us warmed up though. :)
Now for Martina. She's a powerhouse!!! From start to finish, she kept me entertained with her songs, great voice and moves. She can really hit the high notes with ease. From her first to the last 20th song, all were delivered beautifully especially my favorite song - Independence Day. What a powerful voice she has! She even made some of us cry especially when she sang Concrete Angel. I couldn't help but blink back the tears from my eyes. That was a great performance! Would love to have her back here at Jax!

Before we went inside, we were spotted by Jacksonville.com. Look for us on Gallery Two!
